Thanks!! Its easy to miss small things out at times and wonder what's wrong.
I looked over the statement almost 10 time and could not see the missing $.

Missing '$' on that line:
> $dtdy = in{"dtdy"};
Should read:
 $dtdy = $in{"dtdy"};

Or else Perl will think you mean to call a function named 'in'.
