There are some EBFs of OpenClient on Solaris (and possibly some other
platforms) where the dbpoll() call fails when called with a -1 timeout
value (as you've found out!)

This is not serious unless you need to use dbpoll(), in which case you
should try to get a more recent EBF for OpenClient.
