My guess is that your perl binary was built with the unbundled (ie
extra cost) C compiler from HP, but you only have the old/crippled
compiler.
If your site has access to the unbundled compiler you should use that
(talk to your SysAdmin about this).
Alternatively, get and install GCC, rebuild perl with gcc, and then
build sybperl.
