Subject: SQL Server Question
Date: Aug 27 1999 1:50PM

I know that these is not a sybperl question, but maybe someone has the answer.

Situation:

I have setup a SQL Server 11.5 on Win NT 4(SP5). The SQL Server is assigned to port
5000.

Question:

Is port 5000 a listening port? where a client goes to requests a connection but the
server establishes another random port (16550) to carry on the conversation between
the server and the client?

Does anyone know if the above is true or does all communication happen through port
5000?

Thanks for your support!
Jason
