That looks like a botched perl installation. Try re-installing perl
(and upgrading to perl 5.004 or later at the same time)

I don't know what that is at all. The sybperl build doesn't explicitly 
connect to any server, so I wonder if it's trying to get a licence for 
the C compiler, or some weird NFS stuff?
