If you can use isql, you should be able to use sybperl as well - there 
should be no difference.

Are you certain that $ENV{SYBASE} is set correctly (ie that the
sybperl script uses the same interfaces file that isql does?)

You can use dbsetifile() to set the interfaces file explicitly...
