I just built perl/sybperl on 4.0E and it worked. The once catch is that libdb
is compiled in by default on digital Unix (Pardon me True64). I had to
rebuild perl w/o libdb support and it worked fine.
The error I first got when I built it with libdb support did not really make
sense but that was the problem.
Give that a try ....
