Subject: Linux .rpm ASE question...
Date: Dec 16 1999 11:54PM
I have seen a lot of talk about making sure Sybase starts Sybase and not
root, but what about installing the RPM packages? Doesn't root have to
install the packages in a new install? Also, after I build Sybase, I (as a
normal user, not the Sybase user) can't even get the ISQL login to come up
b/c it says the following:
############################################################################
#
The context allocation routine failed when it tried to load localization
files!!
One or more following problems may caused the failure
Your sybase home directory is /opt/sybase-11.9.2. Check the environment
variable SYBASE if it is not the one you want!
Using locale name "en_US" defined in environment variable LC_ALL
Locale name "en_US" doesn't exist in your
/opt/sybase-11.9.2/locales/locales.dat file
An error occurred when attempting to allocate localization-related
structures.
############################################################################
#
What does this mean? I have Sybase stored in /opt/sybase-11.9.2 and
$SYBASE=/opt/sybase/11.9.2
What in hell is wrong with this POS!? I have been working on this for 3 days
and have never had this many problems. I'm beginning to believe that
Sybase-11.9.2 and Redhat 6.1 aren't compatible. Any help on this would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
