Subject: [Q] Looking for Error handling documentation

I want to log inserts and the return value to the database to a flat
file. 

I set an error_handler that writes the serverity (not really what I am
looking for, but the best I can find). I also write after the dbcmd()
that does the insert. 

As you probably know, I get a insert than and insert with severiry set
to 5 when it is a duplicate record. I only want the second entry
(failure)

Any pointers to read up, or suggestions are welcome
