You seem to make suggestions that are wonderful from a user's point of
view but are impossible to implement.
Your analogy is flawed because you don't have a map. In fact, you are
the cartographer! You walk from point A to point B, writing down
street names as you pass them. When you get to point B, you can count
the street names you wrote down (or keep a tally as you're going).
