I tried libc-5.x.x on RH5 and that gave no joy at all.

On 4.2 I've now got:

## dbname on A.B.C.D
## Services:
## query NNNN
## master NNNN
#
dbname
        query tcp eth0 A.B.C.D NNNN
        master tcp eth0 A.B.C.D NNNN

NNNN is the same four digit number which is > 5000. This configuration
gives:

Open Client Message
Layer 4, Origin 1, Severity 4, Number 44
ct_connect(): protocol specific layer: external error: The attempt to
connect to
the server failed.

Is there anyway that I can debug this or turn on more verbose error
logging?

I *really* want to get this working!

Many thanks for all your help so far,
David.
