Untar both of them, point the former at the latter and you should be all
set. (Though I should also mention that I've applied all the official Red
Hat 5.0 patches, including glibc-2.0.6-9.i386.rpm .)

Yup.

Yes - with a dynamic build 'make test' gives me these errors:
