Do you use sybase's a.out version of the client libraries? I had a lot of
trouble with them, while trying to bring mod_perl and (static) sybperl
together (ld crashes too)!
Now, with the new dynamic versions, available at Michael's homepage, I had
success. So maybe you should try them too.
