I have just uploaded DBD::Sybase 0.05 to PAUSE, and it will make
it's way to your local CPAN site in the next day or so. It is
available now from my homepage (see my .sig, below).
This new version is mainly a bug fix release, with the following
It is now possible to set connection properties (such as the
character set to use, or the network packet size) via the
DBI->connect() call. The syntax goes something like:
$dbh = DBI->connect("dbi:Sybase:server=$server;charset=$charset",
where $server is the server name (eg SYBASE) and $charset is
the character set you want to use (eg iso_1).
The old syntax ($dbh = DBI->connect("$dbi:Sybase:$server",...)) is
DBD::Sybase will build on Windows NT (with perl 5.004), and has
been cofirmed to run on Solaris 2.5.x and Irix, but should
build with no major problems on AIX, Dec UNIX and Linux (at least).
Please let me know if you build and use DBD::Sybase, and send me the
OS version and the Sybase version that you use.
