Michael thanks for the quick reply it got me going and i can now connect
to my NT Sql 6.0 server from linux using CTlib & Sybperl

i am going to like this a lot AFTER i learn perl

FYI the trick was the lib name in the Sybase CTlib
it is libsybtcl.a NOT libtcl.a like in extralibs.ld

thanks again for all your help
Paul

You probably have libtcl.a in /usr/local/lib, and extralibs.ld probably
starts off with -L/usr/local/lib. The net_* symbols are defined in
SYBASE's libtcl.a, which isn't seen because of the order of the -L
flags...

Edit extralibs.ld and move the -L/usr/local/lib to the end of the file
and all should be well (or at least much better!)
